CARE FOR CHILDREN

We are proud to support a charity working in Asia who have an aim to see a million children moved from orphanages into local, loving families.

Partnered with governments in Asia, Care for Children focus on local family-based care for disadvantaged children to help create a positive alternative to institutional care.

By building strategic partnerships with national governments, developing projects with local governments and then employing a country specific training program, Care for Children transforms the nation's child welfare system to place vulnerable children into families.

As the Founder and CEO of Gourmet Wine & Dine Ltd., it is important for me to participate in giving back to the world that we take so much from.

You don’t need an excuse to give: you’re altruistic, you’re generous and you love others without expecting anything in return. But sometimes we need a little incentive to do so.

When I first considered being involved in a charity, I asked myself – why do it?

For me, I believe the following 6 reasons give the perfect answers - maybe also for you?

Michael Locke - CEO
#1

Be Part of Something Greater than Yourself

An ocean is made up of little drops, and your contribution, together with many others, can make a difference in this world. There are many charities that show the many ways in which a small donation can make a significant difference in this world – like Care for Children!

#2

Setting an Example

Children are highly likely to repeat what they are exposed to whilst growing up. By showing them how to be generous and caring towards others, they will be more inclined to have these qualities in the future. If you involve your children in your charitable choices, you will install a desire to share and support that will last throughout their lives.

#3

Join a Cause

By volunteering, you have the opportunity to build your social network while reaping the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of your contributions to your favourite cause. You may know people around you who run or bike a race to support a cause close to them; if you feel passionate about a cause like this, join a race or donate some money or time to contribute to their good work.

#4

A Grateful Heart

The act of helping other can create an improved sense of well-being. Knowing that you have sacrificed something, whether it be time, finances or property in order to help others in need can provide you with a sense of purpose in life or work and inner satisfaction. As you give food to a local food bank or write a cheque for an organisation that helps people in need, you can’t help but feel thankful for the blessings of your own life.

#5

Social Injustice Awareness

You may discover new points of view and different opinions on topics from which you were previously unaware of. And so, you may develop knowledge that places you in a position to help increase the awareness of social problems among those around you from a balanced and educated perspective. As a result, you become more educated about social injustices around the world.

#6

Donations are Tax Deductable

Although this isn’t the main reason to suggest donating to a charity, it is a nice bonus. By keeping records of money or property you donate, you can itemise your tax forms correctly and ensure tax is deducted from donations. But not only is the money you give tax-deductible, so are the amounts you spend on travel, parking costs and even convention and event fees that are related to the non-profit group, as long as you are not being reimbursed by the charity for these expenses.

So, based upon these reasons and my own believes, I took the initiative to get involved with Care for Children and their activities. In doing so, I have had a good response, a good time and a great personal feeling for the past 12 years.
